Feature: Watches & Wonders 2025 | Cartier launches latest models
It’s safe to say that Cartier has brought its A-game to this year’s Watches & Wonders with a host of exciting new releases. From the return of the unusual Tank à Guichets to the dazzling new Tressage, Cartier offers something for everyone.
Cartier Tank à Guichets
Possibly our favourite release from Cartier this year, this modern interpretation of the Tank à Guichets was unveiled as part of the prestigious Cartier Privé collection, which aims to reinvent iconic Cartier models of yesteryear.
First introduced in 1928, the Tank à Guichets offers an innovative display consisting of two apertures, one for the hours and the other for the minutes—creating a truly distinctive dial.
Cartier has revisited the Tank à Guichets several times since its heyday in the 1930s when several models were produced, including the brand’s 150th anniversary in 1997 and in 2005 when it was unveiled as part of the Collection Privée Cartier Paris.
The new Tank à Guichets watch is powered by the handwound 9755 MC movement, a calibre with jumping hours and dragging minutes, crafted exclusively for this timepiece. Like the original, the winding crown is positioned at 12 o’clock. The satin-finish case contrasts with the polished horizontal brancards, enhancing the watch’s silhouette. The central face is in brushed gold or platinum.
This new interpretation offers two distinct styles. The first model revisits the 1928 design, with the hour aperture at 12 o’clock and the minute aperture at 6 o’clock and is available in yellow gold, rose gold, or platinum.
The second platinum model, limited to just 200 pieces, features the two apertures positioned at an angle. This design pays tribute to the 1930s—a period of rich creativity and aesthetic innovation.
Cartier Tressage
Cartier has described each of its new Tressage watches as “a watchmaking sculpture”, and we’d say that’s an accurate description of these eye-catching pieces.
All four models boast two “twists” that surround the rectangular dial, creating a magnificent effect that fuses watchmaking with jewellery, in true Cartier fashion.
The standout model for us is the exquisite yellow and white gold version featuring a dial paved with snow-set diamonds with two-tone yellow-gold and pavé diamond twists on either side of it. The understated shiny beige leather strap completes this piece.
The two dazzling white-gold versions are equally as impressive, especially the one with twists that feature a gradient of sapphires alongside the diamonds. Whereas the yellow-gold and black model offers something more understated.
Panthère de Cartier
The Panthere is renowned for its elegance and versatility, making it one of Cartier's most popular watches. This latest addition to the collection goes against the grain and embraces the wild side—quite literally.
Featuring a combination of jewel-clad tiger and zebra stripes, this colourful timepiece boasts 145 snow-set brilliant-cut diamonds on the black lacquer dial, as well as a bracelet entirely paved with 314 brilliant-cut diamonds and 86 spessartites.
Each jewel was polished and set one-by-one, whereas the lacquer was applied by hand and fired at high temperatures, demanding precise craftsmanship from the ateliers. It may not surprise you, then, that it took over 110 hours to make this exceptional Panthère.
